I was sent this beautiful book by Danni in return for a review. All opinions are honest and my own.

Unicorns are currently very trendy and when I got the opportunity to review a children’s book about them, I jumped at the chance. The book arrived beautifully packaged, with unicorn sprinkles and a lovely, handwritten and signed note from the author inside.

My Thoughts

I had a look through the book and the first thing I noticed was the stunning illustrations. The book is well made and looks amazing. There is a decent amount of text on each page, enough to make a good bedtime story without being too short or too long. There is also a rhyming pattern to the words.

I was a little worried that the boys would find a unicorn book too ‘girlie’ but I shouldn’t have been! They both sat completely mesmerised by the story when I read it to them and really enjoyed it. Even my partner commented on how nicely they had been sat listening and how completely into the story they had been. It was a lovely book to read and I liked the storyline.

What The Boys Said

Riley (aged 5) – “I liked the end when Popcorn was good”

Riley also noticed the rhyming words and enjoyed pointing them out as I read

Leo (aged 8) – “I thought the end was good too, and I liked saying the words with you”

Some of the story repeated after each ‘incident’ so the boys got used to this and would join in with the story which they like to do. Leo has since picked up the book and read it to himself, telling me he liked the pictures in it and that he liked the trolls in the story too.

All in all, the book was a huge success in our house. Aside from the story line, a high point is definitely the beautiful illustrations. I would highly recommend this to parents and children looking for new bedtime story books and it would make a lovely Christmas gift too.

  1. It looks and sounds like a lovely book. I love stories that rhyme, and what a great touch having the unicorn sprinkles in the packaging, I know my daughter would love something like this.

    2. Thanks for having me! Yes, I thought that was a lovely touch too and a wonderful book. My 9 year old even mentioned it this weekend (we were at the cinema talking about Popcorn when he bought the unicorn up!) so it really did leave a goodie impression! X
