So here at The Spoonie Mummy, November is going to be all about self love.  Finding some time for you, learning to appreciate what you do and who you are, looking after your needs and building some self confidence.

My mental health hasn’t been great recently and I have noticed that I often put others needs before my own.  I don’t necessarily think this is a bad trait, but when it comes at the detriment to your own health and feelings, then it becomes an issue. I have had lots of messages recently from people struggling too – mum’s who have lost their identity aside from being a Mum, people struggling with confidence and self doubt, people who aren’t taking care of themselves as they are too busy taking care of others and people struggling with chronic illness.

I have set 30 daily challenges, one for each day of November and I would love for you all to join me in the #SMSelfLoveClub.  Each week I will post a blog post with the week’s challenges on.  I would love to see your results too – you can comment at the bottom of the blog posts, tweet, share your photos on Instagram or post on The Spoonie Mummy Facebook page and remember to use the hashtag – #SMSelfLoveClub.

And so for week one’s challenges!  Good luck to you all and I hope this helps you learn a bit more about yourself and give you the boost you need to take care of YOU!

  1. I love this! It’s been a crazy week and I just got around to reading this post, but I will share my answer to todays’ #SMSelfloveclub topic. FRIDAY 3RD NOVEMBER – What is a compliment that you struggle to accept about yourself?

This one really resonated with me because I’m constantly being told that when I receive a compliment I put myself down as a response. I’ve notice it too and this morning I was complimented at the gym by a woman I see almost everyday. She told me she loved my figure and that I look great with the buzzcut I currently have and my response was “well I’m really over weight right now so I’ don’t look my best and I have this hair cut because I got really sick and needed to shave it off.” Can you believe that? She told me I was being ridiculous and no matter the reason for the weight gain or the choice in hairstyle, she still thought I looked great. 🙂

That made my morning, but I do struggle with accepting compliments and they’ve always been about my figure and now I do get a lot of nice things said about my hair!

Thank you for the topics because sometimes we need some good ol’ self analysis! 🙂

    1. Thankyou so much! And I’m sure nearly everyone does! It’s not a bad thing at all, but when it comes at the detriment of your own health and self, the balance needs adjusting! Xx

  3. What a great idea. I haven’t been in a good place mentally recently and I definitely haven’t been feeling any self love. This is a great way of starting to bring back that love and appreciating ourselves again. X #FamilyFunLinky
