This week on thespooniemummy.com I've blogged about the fun we had with a special delivery from @zimplikids (ad/gifted) and about what to eat when you have an ostomy which was a collaboration with the lovely @ibdwarriorprincess Head over to the blog to check them out
Frozen 2! Well, wow! I absolutely loved it. Not as much as the first but I still loved it. Wasn't as much of a fan of the songs but did like Into The Unknown and Anna's one at the beginning. Olaf's song was rubbish this time but he really did make me laugh (and cry) - did you know turtles breathe out their bottoms?! Well done @disney - another fantastic movie and well worth a watch if you haven't been already!
Still not feeling too great! Not been 'normal people ill' for a while and I hate it! Last night I was worried it might be going on to my chest but I think it was just because it had been a busy afternoon and I needed some rest. My chest doesn't feel nearly as bad today so that's good!! At least I'm hopefully getting it out of the way before Christmas!
So you may know I'm studying for my psychology degree part time with the @theopenuniversity My aim is to become a psychotherapist and work with people diagnosed with chronic illnesses, supporting their mental health. It's an area which often severely impacts on the life of a Spoonie, but isn't placed very highly on the list of priorities for the medical profession who tend to focus on our physical symptoms. I'm over half way through my degree and loving it. I've also studied various other at home courses that are counseling related. I know however, my own experience will be what helps inform my practice the most. To that end - be prepared for more mental health topics cropping up on the blog and social media next year. I thought I'd have to wait for my degree to be finished, but then I plan to soy Masters, and in fact, learning will never end for me. So I'm starting on my journey now, because I want to help as many people as I can.
Good Days VS Bad Days This is a repost from a couple of years ago but I thought it was worth a reshare for #crohnsandcolitisawarenessweek ********** With (multiple) chronic illnesses like me, you learn to really appreciate the good days. Take joy in everything you achieve, even if that's getting dressed, putting on some makeup, not feeling too sick from medication or not taking a nap all day. This is daily life for me and many others with IBD. You wake up not knowing whether it will be good or bad, whether you can do what you planned, if you will even be able to get downstairs. I don't want sympathy, I just want people to understand what life is like for those with chronic and invisible illnesses. Just because you don't see it, doesn't mean we don't suffer.
Good morning, happy hump day! I have a new post up this morning and am really pleased to have been able to collaborate with the beautiful @ibdwarriorprincess about eating with an ostomy. We both have ostomies but wanted to show how different our approach and diets are. So many struggle and worry about what they can and can't eat following surgery and the truth is - everyone is different! Hopefully a read of both of our posts will help you understand this and get some useful tips! Link as always is in the bio!
