Mother’s Day Gift Guide

I apologise for how late in the week this is going out but it has been a manic one!  I do hope this is able to inspire you though as I think I have a great range of products and ideas to share with you!

Pocket Money Ideas (gifts for under £10)

RENUNAIL NAIL STRENGTHENER*

This is perfect for any mum whose nails are in need of a little TLC.  Mine have been awfully dry and brittle lately and I am now in my second week of treatment with this and am already seeing positive results.  You put on a couple of coats on day one, then for the next four days add another layer.  Day six you leave them, and on day seven you remove it.  You are then advised to wait two or three days before beginning the same process again.  It is designed to be a 28-day programme so you repeat this process for the whole month.  My nails already feel stronger and look a lot healthier.  The nail varnish leaves nails with a clear coat so they look nice although I am dying to put some colour on them too!

MENTOS LIP BALM*

I was sent a couple of these to try out and I wanted to add them in to this as I think they are fab.  I keep one in my handbag and its really good for moisturising my lips before reapplying my lipstick as it doesn’t make them too gooey or sticky.  My lips have been horribly dry the last few weeks and keeping them topped up through the day has been really important, otherwise my lip colour ends up looking terrible.  Just for reference, the pink one is my fave!

BRAMBLE ROSE UK – MAMA BEAR MUG

This is another Instagram find and I fell in love when I saw this mug so I wanted to share it.  I have also visited the website since and there are many other beautiful gift ideas.  This mug can be personalised with however many ‘baby bears’ you have and with names.

BOTANIQUE*

cof

This is perfect for wine lovers who can no longer drink alcohol through choice, medical conditions or because of medication.  Botanique is a new and unique British-made natural, dry, sparkling non-alcoholic drink.  It looks great in the bottle and is worthy of gift giving I think!  Best served in a champagne flute, although it looks like Prosecco it doesn’t include either grapes or alcohol.  The drink is flavoured with herbs, spices, citurs and pear juice and also contains the beneficial elements of Prelixir®, a unique blend of vitamins, minerals and amino acids which alcohol is known to deplete. This means Botonique is able to provide anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, alkalising, detoxifying and
hydrating benefits so is also a great alternative for ostomates to prevent dehydration.  I tried this and although I am not a huge fan of the taste I think a more refined, wine drinker would love it!  It is definitely one for dry wine fans and possibly those who enjoy vermouth.  I am not a huge fan of herbal teas but I think if you enjoy the taste of those, you would love this.

Botonique_1200x627

Available from Tabl.com and Ocado for £6.99 per 750ml bottle or £39 for a case of 6.  It is also due to appear on the shelves of several other major retailers in the coming months.

Gifts For A Book Lover

THE GOOD MOTHER by KAREN OSMAN*

You can check out my review of this book here, but spoiler alert – I loved it!  If your mum enjoys a good thriller I would highly recommend this one.

HAPPY MUM, HAPPY BABY by GIOVANNA FLETCHER

I haven’t read this one yet but have been recommended it by a friend  as I have enjoyed other books written by Giovanna Fletcher.  This is her honest, upbeat and personal account of becoming a mother and raising a family.  I find Giovanna to be honest and lovely – she is not one to sugar coat life and I feel this will show in her writing.

HAPPY THE JOURNAL by FEARNE COTTON

This is the journal companion to Happy, the book Fearne also wrote.  It can be started at any time of the year and is full of creative prompts and words of wisdom to help you fell happier and more positive.  Perfect for a mum in need of some self love.

FROM MOTHER TO DAUGHTER by KATIE PIPER

I am really looking forward to reading this after reading an article writtten by Katie’s mum about what life was like after Katie’s horrifying ordeal.  The bond between the two seems fierce and reminds me of me and my mum who has looked after me since childhood with my chronic conditions.  I imagine there will be a few tears with this one!

SOFT MATTE LIP CREAMS by NYX

I have fallen in love with these and the colours they come in since seeing them recommended on Mrs Meldrum’s YouTube channel!  My favourite is Prague, but I am excited to get lots more as I love the texture and feel of these on my lips.  I have been struggling with dry lips through these last few winter months and feel these creams, although still a matte finish, give a little more moisture than many matte lip products so don’t leave my lips looking really awful!

MAGNESIUM FLAKES*

These are lush!  After receiving an email about these I couldn’t wait to give them a go.  Many people are lacking some magnesium anyway, but as someone with Crohn’s and an ostomy, malabsorption is even more of an issue for me.  I haven’t been using them long enough to comment on whether they are making me feel any health benefits from them but what I can say is my skin is so silky soft when I get out the bath after using these.  Even Ste asked me what I had put on my skin the other night in bed after getting out the bath!  I will continue to use these and update on my other social media channels so make sure you are following me on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

The magnesium flakes are available from Holland & Barrett and online on the Better You website  (RRP £9.95 for 1kg = 4 baths)

Something A Little Different

ART WORK by STAG & RAVEN*

I previously mentioned this piece of art in one of my favourites posts last year (see it here).  I just wanted to mention the fantastic place it came from again as I love their work and it is really well priced.  Any tattoo loving mummy will love the designs, as will any art loving mum and I think they would make amazing gifts.

BLOM CARDS

I follow Anna on Instagram (check her out here – and make sure to watch her hilarious stories).  She is a psychotherapist and used her knowledge to create these cards to help with mindfulness.  I have my own set and keep them on my dressing table so I see them every morning when I get ready.  The perfect gift for someone trying to look after themselves and be more mindful.

GIN FESTIVAL TICKETS*

I am super excited to announce I will be at the Nottingham Gin Festival at the Nottingham Conference Centre on Sunday April 8th.  There are still some tickets available (for Sat 7th and Sun 8th) as well as it being in different cities across the country so you may find one near you.  As a huge gin fan I think these would be a great gift for fellow gin lovers and I would love to meet some of you!

MARTHA BROOK LDN STATIONARY

I discovered the lady behind Martha Brook LDN Stationary on Instagram and think her stuff is just beautiful!  I don’t think you have to be a blogger to love stationary, but I am a little obsessed with it!  If your mum loves her stationary she would love some pieces from this place, just stunning!

THE MUMMY CLUB*

I have mentioned The Mummy Club before and I am planning a full post about it but The Mummy Club provide one off gift boxes and monthly subscription boxes which are brilliant for mums and mums to be.  The boxes have a range of different goodies every month designed to give the mum in your life a boost and some me-time essentials.

  1. Some fab, and varied, ideas here Natalie! I’ll actually make a note of the Renunail for myself because my nails are flaking again (which had initially improved after chronic Vit D deficiency was treated last year) – I used to use Rimmel for their nail rescue stuff but I’d like to try something else, so will give your suggestion a go! 🙂
Happy Mother’s Day to all of the wonderful, brilliant, amazing mummies out there! x
