IA Information Day

So today I wanted to pop on and let you know about the upcoming IA (Ileostomy and Internal Pouch Association) Online Information Day. The event is taking place on Saturday, March 26th 2022 and will start at 9am.

The conference is entitled ‘Back to Better Living’ and has an amazing line up of speakers. These include Professor Gordon Carlson CBE; Sophie Medlin, IA’s Dietitian and Chair for the Dietetic Association for London; Sarah Russell, IA’s Clinical Exercise Specialist and founder of The Ostomy Studio; Rali Marinova, pouch nurse specialist at St Mark’s Hospital; and Zarah Perry-Woodford, Nurse Consultant at St Mark’s Academic Institute.

The Bryan Brooke Lecture will be delivered by Dr Calum Lyon, entitled ‘Abdominal stomas and the skin; a special relationship’.

As the Young IA Coordinator I am really excited to introduce our breakout sessions.

Ever had concerns about getting back to work after surgery or with a chronic condition? Sam Wilkinson will be sharing insights on what to expect and how to manage talking to employers about having an invisible condition. Sam will be leading her informative presentation with a Q&A from 11.50am on the day.

We are then fortunate to have World Champion bodybuilder, Zoey Wright live at 2.45pm, sharing her journey from hospital bed to World Champion stage. This will be followed with a Q&A with Zoey and a panel of inspiring members who all have different sports & fitness backgrounds.

The whole day is jam packed with some amazing presentations and workshops from the leaders in the field of stoma and internal pouch care. While we were disappointed not to be able to make this an in-person event, we know you will get so much from the day still and all for FREE!

I look forward to ‘seeing’ some of you on Saturday and hope you enjoy it and benefit from the information and support being shared,
