The Spoonie Mummy Reviews – Aqua Carpatica

Apologies for the radio silence today, I am yet again working on another university assignment so am pretty busy!  I thought I would pop on this evening to share with you a product I had been sent to try – AQUA Carpatica.  You can check out their website here.

I was sent a couple of the 1 litre bottles of the still water and was pleasantly surprised by the taste.  I find that some bottled water has a funny taste, or leaves an odd taste after drinking it but this was not the case with this water.  Some of the information I received said it had won a taste test with Olive Magazine and I can definitely see why.

I suffer with high blood pressure and this water has a low sodium content so is perfect for those who suffer like me, as well as those just hoping to follow a sensible diet.  Many other varieties of bottled water contain quite high levels of sodium and it is something you do not always think to check for a product like this.  It is also great for the health conscious, pregnant women and those who enjoy a workout.

As an ostomate, hydration is a key element of taking care of yourself and your health.  It is extremely easy to become dehydrated, especially with an ileostomy.  Plain water, however, is not always the best thing to drink as it tends to run straight through you so unless you are eating at the same time, it should be avoided as the main source of hydration.  I did try adding some fruit and barley squash to the water but wasn’t too keen on the taste then.  I am not sure if it was just the type of juice I used but I wouldn’t suggest it so if you are looking to mix it with a concentrate, be warned!  As we know, all ostomates are different though and some get on fine with plain water, so this may be a great product for you to try as it also contains natural electrolytes and minerals.

You can buy AQUA Carpatica throughout the UK and Ireland at Tesco, Ocado, Amazon, Harrods, Whole Foods Market, As Nature Intended, Fresh Supermarket (Dublin) and over 300 independent outlets.  A 1 litre bottle like the one I received and is pictured has an RRP of £0.89m it is also available in smaller and larger bottles and also in a sparkling variety.  The bottle is 100% recyclable and the water is organic too.

Thanks for reading my review, the water was sent to me to test and review but all opinions are my own.  Hope you have had a great Monday and I will see you with my Mother’s Day Gift Guide tomorrow!
