Good morning and welcome to a brand new week! Today I have another amazing game review for you – anybody who has followed me for a while will know our family LOVE a good game night!
We were kindly sent 5 Second Rule Spintensity to test out. This game is aimed at older kids, teens and adults so was perfect for me to play with Leo who has just turned 12. We have the original 5 Second Rule and it is a family favourite, so we couldn’t wait for it to get more intense with this!
An all-new, spinfully intense electronic version of 5 Second Rule!
You’re racing to name 3 things in 5 seconds and press the timer to see what the spinner wants you to do next: name 3 more, 2 more, draw a new card or move on to the next player… or will the timer turn Red and sound you out!
This electronic version is even more frantic and fun than before! You can also combine this with the original and Junior game for even more fun.
I can definitely see why this has the 12+ age range attached to it, although we were able to amend play slightly so that Riley, my 9 year old, could join in with us.
As I have already said, we are fans of the original 5 Second Rule game and this one is a great addition. The panic is real in the normal game, but with this it is ramped up to the max!
I love the fact that you can change the length of the gameplay by adjusting the Start and Finish locations on the board – perfect if you want something quick to fill 10 minutes before tea! We enjoyed it so much that we played two full games! We barely made a dent in the card pile you get with the game but we could add in the cards from our other 5 Second Rule game if we began to find ourselves repeating them too much. The categories were great and really relevant to life today which I loved. For Riley, I shuffled through them and picked him some cards I knew that he would understand and find a little easier, which meant he could join in too.
The lights and sounds definitely add to the feeling of panic while you play and I love the twist of having to name more or it ending your turn – super frustrating when you are trying to catch up with your 12 year old who is beating you! We really enjoyed the game and it will be definitely one we pull out again – both with the kids and when we have grown up game nights!
I have kindly been given an extra game for one of my blog readers to win and to enter all you have to do is follow the instructions below to make a comment on this post (tell me one of your favourite board games!) and then you will be able to find more ways to enter and increase your chances of winning!
Open to UK entrants only. Giveaway ends Wednesday 25th November at 12pm GMT. Game will be sent out by Interplay Games. If the winner doesn’t respond within 48 hours, a new winner will be picked.
Good luck everyone, I cannot wait to see who wins! Hope you are all well and keeping safe and sane in lockdown 2,
Our favourite board game is probably The Game of Life. We played it lots during lockdown.
