In My Comfy Shoe Era

So this year I have made one big change to my wardrobe and that has been in the footwear department.

I have always loved shoes, but have had to pretty much entirely wear flats for a number of years now due to my arthritis – don’t mention the old 4-inch heels to my doctors in my twenties please! I did once get told off by my physiotherapist for turning up for physio in a pair of cute pumps, not at all suitable or supportive enough apparently!

As I have got older I do choose comfort over a heel and have enjoyed the recent resurgence of girls wearing trainers on nights out – hallelujah! I have also always worn cute but flat shoes for work.

This year however, something had to give. Teaching for me is not done sitting down, I am up and around the room all the time. Now don’t worry – I know what my body is capable of and put many things into place in my classroom to help myself. I won’t go in to them in this post but am happy to share if you are interested – just let me know in the comments!

This year however, I have purchased my first pair of Skechers – and oh boy it is like walking on clouds!

They do a huge range now so I am able to get ones suitable for work and have gone on to purchase a pair of white trainer style ones which are super cute! I still have many other pairs of shoes but honestly, wear my Skechers 95% of the time, even when I am not at work.

The two pairs I have got are also the slip-ins, so no bending down to put my shoes on (or having to ask someone else to help me), I just slide my foot right in!

If a pair of shoes were made for people with arthritis it would be Skechers SlipIns and I won’t stop recommending them to people!
