Good afternoon, how are everyone’s Friday’s going? It is allllllmost the weekend, how exciting! I am having a PJ and rest day as I am not feeling too great but I am excited to share my favourite things with you from the past week.
First up I have my gorgeous new folder and these cute post it notes. I started my degree 3.5 years ago through the Open University and completed my first year of study in a year and a half but have unfortunately been too poorly to continue the last two years. I have now taken the plunge and signed up for my next module starting in October. I will be back to studying part time and completing half of my second year of my degree. I must admit, I am nervous after what I have gone through the past two years with it, but I am really excited to get back to learning too. I will be studying ‘Working with children and their families’ and hope I can incorporate this with my desire to help support and advocate for children and their families when they have been diagnosed with chronic conditions. Anyway, back to the stationery! I always love going out and buying new bits before my course starts as it gets me excited and ready for study! The unicorn post it notes were only £1 and will help with note making. Anyone who knows me knows I love flamingos (do you read my blog?!) and these glittery flamingo folder was just £2. They were both from The Works and now I can’t wait to get into the library with my cute new bits!
It was mine and Ste’s first anniversary this weekend. Who could believe that he would be able to put up with me for a whole year?! Ste wasn’t feeling too great last week so we didn’t plan to do much but we went on a date night to the cinema on Saturday night to see the movie ‘Dunkirk’. I HIGHLY recommend this to everyone, I thought it was excellent. We both like history based documentaries, books etc anyway but I think most people would enjoy this film. It really does make you appreciate what people have gone through for us, while fighting for our country. There was talk of Harry Styles (of One Direction fame) being cast just to boost the film’s profile but he actually does a brilliant job and was worthy of his role.
Next up is a make up item! You all know how much I love my make up and recently I have been using the Maybelline Lash Sensational Lash Multiplying Mascara. I just love it! I bought the waterproof black one and don’t generally like waterproof mascaras as much as normal ones but I can’t fault this one at all! My lashes are so long that when I put on my glasses to drive or watch TV, I can sometimes feel them fluttering on the lenses! Imagine my horror when I realised on the way to meet Stephie that I had left this holy grail mascara at home! A quick trip to Boots and I grabbed the Maybelline Colossal Big Shot mascara in Waterproof Black to try out. While not as good (in my opinion) as the Lash Sensational I still really like it. Selected Maybelline products are buy one and get one half price in Boots at the moment. Next up is one of my favourite discoveries in a while. Audible is an app I downloaded last weekend. As I do a fair bit of driving up and down to Ste’s on my own I spend a lot of time listening to the radio. Sometimes this gets really repetitive and can be really boring. My mum had mentioned listening to audiobooks to me but I wasn’t sure I fancied it. Well on Sunday I decided to to give it a go for something to listen to on the way home. The service is £7.99 a month and you get a free book every month for that. As I was signing up I got the free months trial with one free book to see how I liked it so was definitely worth a go. I chose the book Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty. I have one of her books already and she has had some great reviews. This book has also just been turned into a TV series starring Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon. I’m happy to say I have really enjoyed listening to this book on my phone and not only in the car. In the morning when I get the boy’s packed lunches, put on my makeup etc I’ve found myself putting it on to listen to. I’m not sure every book would suit this style, at least for me personally but this one is excellent. Audible is definitely worth a go if you enjoy reading, especially with the free months trial available.
Lastly, I want to share what may be the greatest breakfast cereal in the world. Lucky Charms are just awesome! I can’t help but have a huge bowl every day. Everytime I go to B&M I have to grab a box (or two) and they generally only last a few days. Not the best cereal for you I’m sure, but one of my favourite breakfast treats by far!
Let me know what you think about my top five this week. Have you been to see Dunkirk yet? What’s your favourite breakfast? And let me know if you purchase the Maybelline mascara and what you think of it! Have a great weekend everyone
